EMID Journals: Ethics, Plagiarism, Copyright & Fair Use Policy

Commitment to Quality and Ethical Research

EMID Journals is committed to publishing high-quality, original research manuscripts in the fields of entrepreneurship, management, innovation, and development. Our aim is to disseminate insightful and innovative scholarly knowledge internationally. We provide clear guidelines and checklists to authors and editors to ensure the maintenance of ethical standards and research integrity.

While EMID Journals offers guidance to avoid unethical practices, authors hold full responsibility for the originality and ethical integrity of their work. Each author must declare that their submission is free from unethical practices or malpractices. Our rigorous peer review process assists authors in improving the quality and usability of their research.

Ethical Standards in Research

Ethical research practices are critical to the development and dissemination of knowledge. EMID Journals upholds high ethical standards in all publications. Authors must ensure:

  • Data and information are not falsified.

  • Compliance with data protection laws such as GDPR.

  • Respect and protection of research subjects’ privacy.

  • Removal of identifying information unless explicit written consent is provided.

Unethical practices such as data fabrication, suppression, defamation, or misrepresentation are serious offenses leading to rejection and potential banning from EMID publications.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another individual’s ideas, theories, models, data, or verbatim/paraphrased text without proper attribution. It is a severe breach of research ethics.

  • All manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks.

  • Manuscripts with detected plagiarism will be rejected, and authors may be barred from future submissions.

  • Complaints regarding plagiarism in published work will trigger investigations.

  • Proven plagiarism can result in removal from databases, public retraction notices, and author bans.

Simultaneous Submission and Self-Plagiarism

Self-plagiarism or simultaneous submission occurs when a manuscript is submitted that is under review, accepted, or published elsewhere, wholly or partially, without appropriate citation and disclosure. Manuscripts must demonstrate significant new findings or expanded scope to be considered.

Failure to disclose prior publication constitutes grounds for investigation and possible rejection.

Academic Peer Review

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review to maintain impartiality and uphold quality. This process includes thorough evaluation and feedback to help authors refine their work.

Joint Copyright Policy

EMID Journals follows a Gold Open Access Joint Copyright model. Authors retain the proprietary rights to their work, while EMID Journals holds joint copyright to protect and manage the distribution rights.

This joint copyright agreement allows EMID Journals to:

  • Reproduce and distribute the work.

  • Include the work in electronic databases and printed editions.

  • Manage permissions for third-party use.

Authors retain the right to reuse and republish their work with appropriate citation and may share the work under the terms defined in this policy.

Copyright Infringement

EMID Journals complies with UK copyright law, protecting authors and third-party rights holders.

  • Manuscripts must not include copyrighted materials without prior written permission.

  • Figures, tables, or images sourced externally require documented permissions.

  • Alleged copyright infringements in published work will be investigated promptly.

  • Confirmed infringements may lead to retraction and bans from publishing with EMID.

EMID Journals’ Fair Use Policy

Although authors and editors sign an Author Warranty and Transfer of Copyright Agreement, EMID Journals supports a Fair Use Policy allowing authors and editors to:

  • Post the final typeset PDF (including title page, copyright statement, and front materials) of their article on secure personal websites, institutional repositories, and general open-access sites such as ResearchGate, arXiv, Academia.edu, SSRN, or society-sponsored sites without prior permission from EMID Journals.

However, under the Author’s Warranty and Transfer of Copyright:

  • Authors cannot copy, distribute, or sell the work for any monetary gain.

  • Authors cannot authorize any commercial third party to post, copy, distribute, sell, or give the work away for monetary consideration.

Author Declarations and Responsibilities

  • Authors must submit a signed Author Warranty and Joint Copyright Transfer Form with their manuscript.

  • Authors certify that their work is original, free from plagiarism, and ethically conducted.

  • Authors are responsible for proofreading and revising manuscripts according to reviewer feedback.

  • Authors must ensure institutional approvals and all co-authors’ consent.
